Shrutika Rane
Consultant
Shrutika is a Consultant with the Climate Resilience team at The Council, where she works on strengthening India’s preparedness for extreme heat events. Her focus lies in developing public health-centric strategies that help vulnerable communities adapt to the rising impacts of climate change, especially as temperatures soar.
Before joining The Council, Shrutika served as an Emergency Medical Officer at Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune, where she spent over two years as a lead responder to the delivery of acute emergency medical care. During the COVID-19 crisis, she was at the frontline of the pandemic, leading triage operations, managing critical care protocols, and coordinating with public health authorities under high-pressure conditions.
Shrutika holds a Bachelor’s degree in Homoeopathy, a Postgraduate Diploma in Emergency Medicine, and a Master’s in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Indian Institute of Health Management Research. Her multidisciplinary background gives her a unique perspective on climate-health linkages. In November 2024, she presented her research at the prestigious Joint Symposium between the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the University of Cambridge, showcasing her work on heat-related health impacts and developing her conceptual framework to guide future research.
Outside of work, Shrutika embraces the serene moments in life, often curling up with a captivating book as the warm scent of a slow-burning candle envelops her space. When she's not lost in the pages of her latest literary obsession, you'll likely find her curating her candle collection and flower arrangements or meticulously rearranging her surroundings with the precision of a near-Marie Kondo enthusiast. A blend of wanderer and homebody, Shrutika likes to maintain a balance between city strolls and pub crawls with cozy evenings spent watching a good movie and drinking coffee.
