Ritwick Dutta

Research Analyst

Ritwick has joined The Council’s Climate Resilience team as a Research Analyst specialising in adaptation finance, bringing a multidisciplinary background across policy research, urban planning, and resource mobilisation. He is focused on driving impact at the intersection of applied research and strategic program design. Prior to CEEW, he worked in public sector consulting at Grant Thornton, where he leveraged data analysis and regulatory research to secure new government business in key urban sectors (transport, housing, water) and developed strategic policy briefs for infrastructure projects.

His expertise in climate finance is grounded in real-world application. While pursuing a Master's in Urban Planning and International Development from NYU, Ritwick worked with the UN Capital Development Fund in Indonesia, leading climate policy research across 10 national ministries to analyse national financing systems. This work focused on identifying bottlenecks and proposing actionable reforms for climate-adaptive infrastructure investment at the local government level. Ritwick also co-authored a climate finance research paper analysing how post-colonial governance affects adaptation strategies in France. While at NYU, he also served as a Teaching Assistant, supporting over 200 students across 5 courses and leading lectures to sharpen skills in policy memo writing and leadership frameworks.

Earlier in his career, he gained hands-on experience in community-led climate action at iamgurgaon, successfully raising over $3M+ in funding and leading cross-functional teams to design and implement blue-green infrastructure initiatives that effectively mitigated urban flooding. Ritwick also holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Leeds.

A lifelong, passionate footballer, Ritwick still plays regularly and is a devoted and hopeful Arsenal fan. He enjoys listening to music and staying active by running or working out, often pacing around the office to meet his daily step goal.
