
Nimisha Biswas
Engagement Lead
Nimisha works as an Engagement Lead to strengthen collaborations between CEEW and state/central governments. Prior to her role at Powering livelihoods, she played a key role in implementing the National Clean Air Program (NCAP), leveraging her expertise in government relations, stakeholder engagement, and project execution. With a decade of experience in the development sector, she has worked in education, rural, and urban governance, including roles with Teach for India and the Aspirational Districts Fellowship. She holds degrees in Visual Communication (University of Madras), Journalism (SRM University), and Bharatanatyam (MFA, Bharathidasan University). Passionate about solo travel and community engagement, she embraces local cultures through public transport.
Prior to her tenure at The Council, Nimisha amassed over eight years of enriching experience as a development sector professional. Her career trajectory spans impactful contributions in education, rural and urban governance domains. Commencing her journey with the esteemed Teach for India fellowship, she furthered her impact as a part of the prestigious Aspirational Districts Fellowship under the Ministry of Home Affairs, NITI Aayog, and Tata Trusts.
Educationally, Nimisha holds a Bachelor's Degree in Visual Communication from the University of Madras, complemented by a Master's in journalism and mass communication from SRM University. Additionally, her passion for Bharatanatyam led her to pursue a postgraduate degree in the art form, culminating in an MFA from Bharathidasan University.
Beyond her professional endeavours, Nimisha finds joy in solo travels and actively engages in community participation, particularly in rural areas. Her penchant for understanding the essence of a locale prompts her to prefer public transport, aligning with her belief in grasping the authentic pulse of the places she visits.
